Jekyll Island



My parents recently stopped to visit Jekyll Island, while traveling home from Florida.  I remember the story was told that the US Federal Reserve was first formed during a secretive meeting on Jekyll Island.  My family members thought I was a bit odd for knowing such an odd bit of historical information.  Anyway I wanted to confirm this story with ChatGPT and received the following.  I also learned a little more about Jekyll Island.  Jekyll Island has a turtle rehabilitation center.  Jekyll Island also has some serious driftwood!  I wonder where such large driftwood came from.  I haven’t googled or asked ChatGPT this question yet.  It is funny how there is now a choice from where to search for answers to these kind of questions.  It’s just the new normal for human beings.






Evidently the driftwood on driftwood beach is from a once thriving maritime forest on Jekyll Island itself.

 Earlier today, I found myself thinking about Scientology.  I remember that years ago, I watched the TV series “The Path” on Hulu.  After that, I watched (I don’t recall on what streaming service) “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” with Leah Remini and Mike Rinder.  This program about Scientology had three seasons and was all about the practices of Scientology and the harm and abuse perpetrated by this cult religion.  It was eye-opening for sure.  I had never previously learned much about cult movements and cult religions, and it was shocking to me to think that such harmful organizations actually exist in the United States of America and that children are born into these cults.  I knew there were religions such as the Jehovah Witnesses and the Fundamentalist Latter-day Saints but I never really knew much about these abusive religions.  While watching the Leah Remini series, I realized that this organization was even worse and more harmf...

New Approach To Living

 My new approach to living is that a to-do list is a life plan or course of action.  It is not something that must be completed or prioritized over time spent just taking time to smell the roses, so to speak, or just enjoying life in general.  If things on a to do list are completed then great.  If they cannot or do not end up being completed when we had hoped that they would, then this is ok also.  Some things are more important than whether one’s house is perfect or whether all of one’s holiday ideas and plans come to fruition.  This is true for life in general be it a holiday time or not.  Yes, we all must prioritize what needs to be done and accomplish the most important things but some things are less important than our happiness and joy that we are able to find in living.  I think the notion that things don’t have to be perfect is a good attitude and example for others.  Being happy, assisting others when we can, and sharing our own joy...
