Just A Thought

 The one upside of this year‘s presidential election is that it is no longer undecided.  All the attention and concern focused on the election can now be focused elsewhere and hopefully on more constructive endeavors.  Now I need to just stop writing about it.  Is there any chance though that Donald Trump won’t be a topic in my mind over the next four years?  Doubtful. 😲 But there are much better things to think and write about.

 A walk through absurdity.  I like that phrase.  This is where we are at in America political history right now. 

 A good leader’s ambitions should be aligned with serving the best interests of the people for whom they hold a position of leadership.  It is the place where a leader needs to be to truly be a leader of the people.  

 Outliving Donald Trump.  Wow.  That is the one positive thought that I could come up with right now.  There is a future without Donald Trump.  That sounds horrible.  Americans and America will outlive Donald Trump.  I preferred the idea of him being off on some tropical beach somewhere with his political chapter closed and there being a new fresh start with a new commander-in-chief for America. 

 I wonder how Trump‘s maga supporters will actually fare over the next four years with Donald Trump as the president?  I would imagine that it will be the rich who will be the real beneficiaries of another Donald Trump presidency. 

Evidently America is not immune to falling victim to bad leadership.  Regardless of the outcome of election, I will never concede against my opinion that a good leader needs to be a person of good moral character.  Sadly, Mr. Trump is a man who demonstrates the opposite.  A winner of the election has not yet been called, but it has become necessary to process the reality of another Trump presidency.

 If Donald Trump wins this election, I will be very confused and very sad for America.  Then the Republicans and Trump supporters will get the America they wanted and they will have Donald Trump as the role model of the heart of America the American ideal.  Why do people want this???  As of right now, I have idea no idea what I will think if President Harris is not to be.  I can’t even guess.  I guess just still be a person who believes in an America of equality and unity and a future where this is possible. 

 President Biden made an apology to Native Americans for the more than century long practice of forcibly separating their children from their families and people to send them to assimilation boarding schools where they were subject to terrible abuses in order to rob them of their identities and force them to become a part of the white man’s culture.  This apology is more than deserved and overdue.  Native Americans absolutely deserve to have the wrong that was done to them by the US government validated and apologized for.  This should not be a hidden and unacknowledged part of our country’s history. It came to my attention tonight that I have been guilty of not reading about President Biden‘s apology because I was more focused on what has been taking place in regard to the upcoming presidential election which is now taking place today and tonight. I would never want to minimize the importance and reality of this unfortunate chapter of our American history or dishonor the importance of

 Today’s prayer.  Please let this day be not a repeat of 2016.

We adopted Phily (formerly Derek) last June and then at the start of Labor Day weekend, Jilly showed up meowing outside of our back door. They quickly became besties.    

 I voted yesterday. 😄 It seems like it was just 3 months until election day and now we are down to 3 days!  Thank goodness.
